Marriage records [microform], 1849-1852.

Marriage records may include bonds, books, certificates, licenses, marriage registers or ministers' returns. Indexes to marriage records may be available. Marriage licenses were issued by the county clerk upon completion of the bond and give permission for a marriage ceremony to be performed. The license was presented to the person performing the marriage, either the minister, judge, etc. Marriage registers or ministers' returns were filed with the county clerk within twelve months after the minister or public official performed the ceremony.
